With all due respect to everyone who works in the medical field, sometimes people who are confronted with horror and misery every day become slightly desensitized to it as a way of coping. At least, that’s the only explanation I can think of as to why one EMT would think it was appropriate to take a photo for his Hinge profile showing a lifeless body behind him in the ambulance.

Posting a screenshot of the man’s profile to Hinge, TikToker Cat said, “Call me old-fashioned, but if I called an ambulance and my EMT took his Hinge photo with my body and feet in the background, I would fucking riot. What’s going on here?”

While your first instinct is probably to assume the man is a psychopathic monster, it pays to be patient and check the comments. If you do, you’ll learn that the body is most likely a Rescue Randy manikin used for teaching first responders how to properly handle patients. People deduced this based on the way the figure’s toes are unnaturally positioned and spread, which would make sense if it were a doll, not so much if it were a human.

Cat, however, fired back that it isn’t clear in the slightest, and to be fair, your first instinct when you see what looks like a body in a dating profile picture probably isn’t to investigate, but rather to continue swiping left — it certainly doesn’t make for a fantastic first impression.

Then again, maybe Hinge guy could lean into it and stage an entire dating profile photoshoot with Randy — holding hands on the beach, sharing a romantic dinner, making out on the couch. Become the Weird Manikin Guy instead of the Weird Mysterious Body Guy.
